Livestock Owner Have New Way to Report Predator Attacks
Monday, August 21st, 2017 -- 10:06 AM
(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Wisconsin livestock owners who lose animals to predators like wolves, coyotes or bears now have a fast way to report such attacks to the Department of Natural Resources. The agency is offering instant e-mail or text message alerts for livestock involved in depredations. The program mirrors another existing system for hunting dog depredations by wolves. Coordinators say farmers can sign up for the livestock depredation notification system by going to the DNR's website and clicking on the red envelope. At the next screen, they should choose 'email' or 'text message' as their preferred method of contact.
The alert will state what animals were injured or killed, the county where the incident took place, whether the incident was caused by a wolf, coyote, or bear, and the date.
