Clark County Extension Office at the Clark County Fair, Final

-The Clark County Fair continues today and the Clark County UW-Extension Office is doing many things during the fair.I spoke with Melissa Kono, CNRED Agent, and Chris Holler, 4-H Advisor, and they talked about some of the events they’re doing. Melissa continued the interview by talking about some of the other events the UW-Extension Office is doing.
Melissa: "We're going to have a couple things going on. One is, I'll be doing water testing on Sunday from Noon-2pm. So, if anyone has concerns that there might be nitrates in their water, all they need to do is bring a cup of water in a clean container, run the tap for a minute or two, and collect some water and I'll screen for nitrates."
"We'll be promoting Clean Sweep, which is coming up in September. We'll also have an agricultural plastics dumpster on display where people can get information about registering in case they missed our last event. We also have an Extension area set up where we have information on all our programs that we do throughout the year."
"We're also offering a family friendly area for breastfeeding mothers. So, a place to pump or feed babies. It's a quiet space. It's located in the dinning hall in the back corner. We have a pack and play there, a changing table, a fridge for storing breast milk and bottles. There's also a rocking chair and it's just kind of a quiet area for mothers and fathers with children if they just need to take a break from all the fun things at the fair and all the chaos that goes with it."
"Finally, Nancy, our Family Living Agent, will be providing pressure cooker gauge testing after the chocolate contest on Saturday from 1pm-3pm. So, you need to bring the lid of the pressure cooker and it's a good time of year to test them as people start canning things from the garden. Just to test them and make sure they're working properly."
