Thursday, August 10th, 2017 -- 7:15 AM
-The Neillsville City Council heard some information from Mayor Steve Mabie and City Attorney Bonnie Wachsmuth in regards to a meeting they attended regarding Memorial Medical Center’s new facility.More specifically, the meeting was regarding the process MMC would need to follow in order to annex land for their new campus. The meeting was simply information and MMC is in the very, very preliminary stages of this process. The city attorney gave a brief rundown of what MMC has to do for this process which includes a petition, landowners surrounding the area would need to sign the petition, the item would be published, a hearing and meetings would be held and then the council would need to pass it by a 2/3 vote.
The information could also be sent to the Department of Administration and they would provide their thoughts on if the annexation is a good idea. It was also stated that MMC would be annexed alone as part of their property line extends into the river where the city’s property line extends. There was also a brief discussion on the sewer system. No action was taken on the item by the council.
