Clark County Extension Office at the Clark County Fair, Part 7
Wednesday, August 9th, 2017 -- 9:31 AM
-The Clark County Fair begins tomorrow and the Clark County UW-Extension Office will be doing many things during the fair.I spoke with Melissa Kono, CNRED Agent, and Chris Holler, 4-H Advisor, and they talked about some of the events they’re doing. Chris continued the interview by talking about the many, many events happening with the 4-H at the Clark County Fair.
Chris: "Saturday and Sunday, we have the auction Saturday night, which is huge. Social for the bidders starts at 5:30pm and then the auction actually starts at 6:30pm. And I'm sure Randy and Bob are going to try and beat their time of 56 seconds per animal to be sold. On Saturday, in the morning, they have the chocolate tasting contest and that gets decimated within seconds. And then the Little Britches program at Noon, which is a huge program for the Dairy Promotions Committee in Clark County because all the little ones are going to be bring out their cute, little calves. And possibly being dragged by their cute, little calves. But that's okay! Sunday, we have the Dairy Supreme Showmanship at 8:30am and that's where the best of the best in showmanship show their talents by switching up animals and doing what they do. And then at Noon, we have Supreme Showmanship, so this is where the winners of showmanship of beef, swine and sheep are put in the ring together, typically there are 4 or 5, and then they have to show a pig, a sheep and then a beef animal. And then 4pm, projects go out and we're done. Definitely get your sweet rolls in the morning because they smell great!
Coming up on Thursday, Melissa will talk about some of the other events the UW-Extension Office is doing at the fair.
