Marshfield Man Killed in Two Vehicle Accident

-A Marshfield man was killed in a two vehicle crash early Saturday morning.The crash occurred on State Highway 13 near Evergreen Avenue in the Town of Saratoga just before 4am. According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, a southbound vehicle driven by 23-year-old Taylor Owczynsky of Nekoosa crossed the center line and hit the northbound vehicle driven by 21-year-old Tyler Manthe of Marshfield. Manthe was flown to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield where he was pronounced dead. Owczynsky was taken to Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids with serious injuries.
The sheriff’s department is continuing the investigation, but it appears alcohol may have been involved and Manthe was not believed to be wearing his seatbelt.
