Owen-Withee School Boards July Meeting Report

Sunday, July 23rd, 2017 -- 10:09 AM

The Owen-Withee School Board was notified of the Academic Standards for the next school year at their meeting on Monday.

Each year districts are required, by state law, to notify the public, through board notification, of the academic standards that the board has adopted. The statement regarding the standards was read. It is also located on the district’s web site. District Administrator Bob Houts also reported on the previous school year’s budget. After all revenues and expenditures were accounted for, the district’s fund balance grew a little this year as they under spent their revenues by $4023.66. Mr. Houts also presented to the board a report on the fiscal imbalance that occurred in Fund 27, Special Education, and Fund 50, Food Service. The Fund 27 budget was $7429.97 over budget while Fund 50 was $13,418.81 over budget. By law, those budget must be balanced at the end of the fiscal year, so the board voted to transfer money out of Fund 10 into Funds 27 and 50.

Finally, the board voted to approve Affiliated Membership in the Rural Virtual Academy for the 2017-18 school year. This membership allows the district to keep their Odysseyware licenses that they use for some of credit deficient students, but also open the door to over 500 online and blended courses available to their students and staff.
