Owen City Council Discusses Several Items

-The Owen City Council discussed several items at their meeting last week.

During the Police Report, it was decided that a Weed Commissioner needs to be appointed in regards to resident’s lawns. The council also accepted the resignation of Officer Ryan Boie of the Owen Police Department. They discussed the Public Works Report and approved to pay a $150 per year maintenance fee, until no longer needed, to the Town of Longwood. They also approved Pay Request #4 for $151,016.02 to Haas Sons for the 4th Street Project.

The council approved the Mississippi Valley Archaeology Center to complete a 44.40 form for a proposed railroad spur in Owen for the Heartland site for a total of $500.00. They also heard an appeal for a license denial and reversed the denial. Finally, they heard the CDC’s Report. Tim Swiggum reported the Railroad, City, Heartland and Propane Co. had a meeting. America in Bloom had an event at the Old School. The Car Show flyers are ready and sponsors are slowly coming in. Abby Pippin has resigned from the DRC and the annual TIF Joint Review Board meeting has been held.
