Food Service Proposal at Neillsville School Board Meeting

Wednesday, July 12th, 2017 -- 10:10 AM

-The Neillsville School Board heard a food service proposal to start their meeting on Monday.

First, the board was provided some background information on the Summer Feeding Program. The district sees breakfast revenues from reimbursable meals around $4,676.88. They see about $25 from non-reimbursable meals coming to a total of $4,401.88. For lunch revenues, they see around $14,981.24 for reimbursable meals and $136.50 for non-reimbursable meals coming to a total of $14,981.24. The average number of breakfast student meals in the summer is 107 and 24 for adults. The average number of lunch student meals is 195 with 39 for adults.

A survey was also done to see what high school students like for lunch, what they would like to see, how many days they don’t heat lunch and why, if they would like an express bar and what they would like on it. The survey mainly focused on high school students as they’ve seen a steady decrease in the number of high school kids eating hot lunch. The number currently sits around 40%. The district will be looking into getting the equipment to create another line in the commons area of the high school. The money is in the budget and would come from the Fund 50 account.
