Clark County UW-Extension and Revolution Plastics Providing Ag Plastic Recycling Dumpsters to Clark County Farmers, Final

-The Clark County UW-Extension Office and Revolution Plastics are excited to bring an ag plastics recycling event to Clark County.Revolution Plastics will be distributing dumpsters in Clark County on Tuesday, July 18th for on-farm agricultural plastics recycling. I spoke with Clark County’s CNRED Agent Melissa Kono, who was instrumental in bringing this to the county, and she explained the program in more detail.
"They process everything here in the U.S. It's not shipped overseas. So, this is processed here in the U.S. U.S. workers, used here in the U.S. for products. And it really provides a good service for farmers to get rid of the nuisance of having this agricultural plastic laying around. Traditional recyclers don't tend to find that a very desirable product just because it's hard to find an end use for it sometimes. It doesn't recycle well into new things."
"They do ask that, once the plastic is used, that it's put immediately into the dumpster just to prevent it from getting rained on or more beat up than it already is. Otherwise, they'll come and get it on a regular pick up basis. If it gets full and the farmer calls, they might be able to swing by and pick it up more often than that. But it really depends on their collection route too."
"So, plastics that are typically used and can be recycled in these dumpsters include silage plastics such as used bail wrap or ag and grain bags. Most bunker covers, oxygen barrier film and then other agricultural plastics such as used irrigation tape. Even greenhouse and hoop house plastics can be recycled using these dumpsters."
Once again, you must register to receive a dumpster and you can do so by calling the Extension Office or online with the company. This service is completely free to farmers in Clark County and the surrounding area.
