Several Items Discussed and Approved at Owen City Council Meeting

-The Owen City Council discussed and approved several items at their meeting on Tuesday of last week.During the public opinion portion of the meeting, it was stated the Veterinary Clinic is experiencing an increase of water flow through their front door from West Nicholas Street. The public works department will look into it. The council approved the Pay Request #4 for $45,125 and #5 for $105,545 to August Winters for the Lift Station #1 Project. They also approved to table the issue regarding if the City will raze a piece of property on East 3rd Street until the 2018 budget. The Mayoral Appointment of Cindy Knight to the Police Discipline Committee was approved as was a Proclamation to the Lions Clubs Centennial Celebration. The board also reviewed budgets and approved authorizing the submission of WI DOT facilities for economic assistance grant application.
Finally, the council heard the CDC’s report. Tim Swiggum reported that VPLE Insurance has been approved & the first check has been submitted and he hopes to meet with the DNR next week. A rail agreement needs to be completed and they are hoping to break ground for the rail September 1st of this year. Heartland held a public informational meeting at the Friends of the Old School and the NAPA store will likely stay on Central Avenue. Finally, Owen will become Heartland’s main office and headquarters and the Farmer’s Market had 4 vendors for the first weekend.
