Compliance Maintenance Report at Neillsville City Council Meeting

-The Neillsville City Council approved several items at their meeting on Tuesday. The council approved the Compliance Maintenance Report. This report looks at the city’s water plant and gives it a grade depending on several factors. The city received a GPA of 3.34 for the plant. They received “A” grades in several categories including BOD, Bio-solids quality and management, staffing, financial management and collection systems. The plant did receive a “C” grade in TSS because the plant is treating a lot of clean water due to high rains and leaking pipes in the city.
They also received a “C” for operator certification because their recently hired current operator doesn’t have his advance license, which the DNR requires. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to receive that license for a few years, so a temporary advance operator may be put in place. Finally, the plant received a “D” in phosphorous limits as the city still struggles with meeting the DNR’s new phosphorous limits. Again, much of the exceedance occurred during times of high rains.
