-The Clark County Community Foundation, Inc. (CCCF) is pleased to announce the winners of its 2017 Scholarship Programs.

Six Clark County students have each been awarded a $300 Clark County Community Scholarship to be used for tuition or other post-secondary educational expenses this fall. Now in its third year, the Community Scholarship Program, was created to provide additional financial resources to eligible students living in Clark County and pursuing an education beyond high school. This year the Foundation received applications from approximately 40 students, representing nine Clark County school districts.

This year’s Community Scholarship recipients are as follows:

Lexi J. Opelt is a graduate of Neillsville High School and will be attending UW--Eau Claire and majoring in Elementary Education.

Morgan Reinwand graduated from Loyal High School and plans to attend UW--Marshfield/Wood County.

Nick Rueth is a graduate of Loyal High School and has enrolled in the Farm Operation Program at Chippewa Valley Technical College.

Marnie Schecklman is a Greenwood High School graduate who will be attending UW--Eau Claire to study Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Bailey Waldhauser graduated from Loyal High School and has chosen UW??"Eau Claire to major in Kinesiology.

Brady Wisnewski, a Thorp High School graduate, will be attending Concordia University to study Clinical Psychology or Education.

Additionally, the CCCF is pleased to announce the first recipient of the Erik Pentz Memorial Scholarship. Created in 2016, in memory of their son Erik, the Pentz family is providing a scholarship to one graduating senior from Greenwood High School each year. A 1994 graduate of Greenwood High School, Erik valued his relationship with friends and family. In addition to certain academic criteria, applicants were asked to comment on their own experiences with others and how certain values or characteristics may have had an impact in their own lives. This year’s Erik Pentz Memorial Scholarship recipient is Devon Mertins who has been awarded a $300 scholarship. Devon will be enrolled in the welding program at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire this fall.

The CCCF Scholarship Selection Committee and the Board of Directors wish all the scholarship applicants and recipients the very best as they further their education and embark on their careers. According to Committee Chairman Anne Teska, these promising young adults have all demonstrated outstanding talents and abilities. Their fine achievements certainly reflect positively on their families, schools and communities in Clark County.
