Spencerama Days Returns

Monday, June 12th, 2017 -- 8:02 AM

(WDLB) -After a 16-year hiatus, Spencerama Days made a comeback this past weekend.

The Spencer High School Band was part of the festivities, as the Marathon County village brought back a tradition that dates back to the mid-1960's, but had not been done since 2001. Organizer Deb Schafer got the idea for the Spencerama revival, and it paid off. The parade was the main attraction on day two Saturday afternoon. The Tri-County Antique Car Club was there. So was Mark Anderson from Anderson Electric.

And it was a great parade, according to Sharon Beyrice and Bonnie Long, who were thrilled Spencerama was back. Spencerama served as a reunion of sorts for many, including Vickey Strey Zenner, A-K-A "Miss Spencerama 1985". Strey-Zenner still had all the "Miss Spencerama" essentials. The Spencer Jaycees held the inaugural Spencerama Days in 1965, advertised as a community celebration.
