2017 Clark County Fair Just Around the Corner

-The Clark County Fair is just around the corner! There are lots of exciting things taking place at the Clark County fair. New in 2017 all judging for Junior Departments (except for animals) will take place on Wednesday, August 9 starting at 9:00 a.m. The dog show starts at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Stay for the crowning of the Fairest of the Fair that evening! On Thursday, August 10 judging of the beef (8:30 a.m.), swine (8:00 a.m.), sheep (1:00 p.m.), and goats (9:00 a.m.) takes place. Stay for Cat judging at 6:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Building. Friday, August 11 judging of Dairy (8:30 a.m.) and Poultry (8:00 a.m.) takes place. Friday evening 4-H Has Talent will take place in the Listeman Bandshell from 5:00 ??" 7:00 p.m. with 4-H Family Fun starting immediately after at 7:00 p.m in the Dairy arena. On Saturday, August 12, the horse (8:00 a.m.) and rabbit (8:00 a.m.) shows lead the day, with Little Britches taking place at 12:00 p.m. New this year ??" there will be an Open Class Rabbit Show in conjunction with the Junior Rabbit Show. Saturday evening has the Open Class Draft Horse Hitches starting at 5:00 p.m. and the
4-H/FFA Livestock sale starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Dairy Arena. On Sunday Dairy Supreme Showmanship starts at 8:30 a.m. with the Open Class Dairy show to follow. Pleasure horses participate in Gymkhana while the Draft Horse Mares are in the limelight.

Entertainment for the week includes the Tractor Pull on Thursday night starting at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening the Men’s Club Truck Pull starts at 7:00 p.m. with People’s Choice Band at 9:00 p.m. playing in the beer garden. The Chocolate Dessert Contest is held on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. That evening the Men’s Club Demo Derby starts at 5:00 p.m. (the first of a 2 day event) with Moon Dog Band playing at 9:00 p.m. On Sunday the Men’s Club Demo Derby continues at 1:00 p.m. In addition, to the events listed there is free entertainment in the Listeman Bandshell daily at 11:00 a.m. Walk down the fairway to the Quonset building to see the “Cans for A Cause” displays and Hub City Trains.

Season passes are $10.00 with daily admission fees at $5.00 (adults and youth 10 and older). Children 9 and under are free. Grandstand prices are $5.00 (adults and youth 10 and older; children 9 and under are free). Saturday is Senior Citizen’s Day and admission for anyone 60 and over is $3.00. Season passes will be available at the UW-Extension Office in July. There will also be advance sale tickets for armbands for the carnival rides.
