Clark County Board of Supervisors Hears 2016 Forestry and Parks Report

-The Clark County Board of Supervisors heard the Forestry and Parks Department’s Annual Report for 2016 at their meeting last week.

Some of the highlights include timber sales. Revenue received for 2016 timber sales was $3,577,167 which is an increase of $650,481 over 2015. Last year was also the second highest revenue for Clark County. The department also continues to work on reforestation and their continued battle with invasive species and various tree/plant diseases. They also discussed some land acquisition, the forest roads and talked about the damage received during last September’s floods.

The department also discussed the Clark County Fairgrounds which had expenditure totals of $202,281 and revenue totals of $28,553. For the campgrounds and parks, the county saw camping fee totals of $550,273.12. They also talked about the county trails and other recreation areas. For Bruce Mound, expenditures exceeded revenues by $43,202 for 2016. Finally, they ended the report with hearing about the county dams including the continued work on Sherwood Lake.
