Clark County Board of Supervisors Approves Several Items

Tuesday, May 30th, 2017 -- 11:27 AM

-The Clark County Board of Supervisors approved several items at their meeting last week.

They approved several appointments to begin their meeting including Diane Feiten to replace Dick Lange on the county board. They also approved a resolution transferring some funds from 2016. Those included $7,310.55 from the coroner’s account and $100 from the fire suppression account. The board also heard an update on the strategic planning for the county, which is ongoing. And they heard about a new policy, which essential describes how county policies are created and implemented.

The board also approved a resolution asking the governor and state legislator to create a segregated funding source for forestry programs in Wisconsin. In Governor Walker’s 2018 budget, he’s eliminating the Wisconsin Forestry Mill Tax. This tax was created back in 1937 for the sole purpose of providing funds for forestry work and various forestry grants. The governor proposed moving these funds into the state’s General Fund and counties would have to fight for the same funds that go towards roads, schools, medical purposes and more. If this is eliminated, the county could see an impact of $140,000 per year. And it’s saved the county roughly $3.5 million since 2002.
