Black River Falls Fire Department Responds to Train Oil Leak

-The Jackson County Emergency Dispatch Center paged the Black River Falls Fire Department out on May 23rd, just after 6pm, to the Hatfield area for a train locomotive that was to have spilled/leaked oil.The location of the train was between the County Hwy E and County Hwy K crossing in the Township of Adams. The Hatfield and Merrillan Fire Departments had also been dispatched. On scene it was learned that one of the locomotives appeared to have blown its engine and had leaked engine oil onto the railroad bed. The oil had also spread into the ditch/railroad right away which was wet and had some standing water. The department deployed oil absorbing boom in the wet land area and absorbent mats on rail bed area.
Canadian National Railway had a cleanup team responding to the incident for site cleanup. The departments were on scene for 1.5 hours.
