Clark County Tourism Meeting Discusses County Events

-The Clark County Tourism committee heard some updates on their activities during their meeting Wednesday afternoon.

The “Spring Into the Arts” Studio Tour, that took place towards the end of April was a big success. Artists were very pleased with the large turnout and had similar numbers in regards to sales. Around that time, the Bloomin’ Greenhouses event kicked off to highlight the county’s many beautiful greenhouses. According to several greenhouse owners, they saw record sales numbers during Mother’s Day weekend. The committee also received some exciting news in regards to their Fall Harvest Moon Tour. They committee has received a $7,000 JEM, Joint Effort Marketing, Grant to use to better promote and add new fun events to the tour.

The committee also discussed continued advertising in magazines like American Road and Midwest Living, which both saw excellent response with the committee’s previous ads. They also heard some updates from the Forestry and Parks Department. ATV Trails are open, fish stocking has begun at Sherwood Lake, Wedges Creek Dam will be reconstructed and a strategic plan is being developed for the fair grounds.
