Projects and More at Owen-Withee School District

Thursday, May 11th, 2017 -- 9:08 AM

-The Owen-Withee School Board began their meeting on Monday by electing their officers.

Julie Wendler was voted as President, Rick Eloranta for Vice President, Angela Greschner for Clerk and Kim Amacher for Treasurer. They also selected and approved the committee assignments. The board then reviewed the maintenance projects list. The board had tabled a list of maintenance projects at the April meeting until the buildings and grounds committee could discuss. The committee prioritized the projects with items like fire alarm system upgrade, blacktop repairs, tiling elementary classrooms, filling in the reading pit and carpeting the elementary library, doing locker room repairs in the elementary and high school, glazing and painting the high school hallway and replacing the motors on the baskets in the high school gym. Those all received the go ahead along with new sinks near the elementary bathrooms.

District Administrator Bob Houts also gave the board a status report on the various energy efficiency projects. The roof on the high school is well on its way to replacement. The new boiler is in the basement and installation will begin soon. The lobby doors will be replaced in July, while the heating controls will be installed starting yet this month.
