Wisconsin's April Egg Production Down Compared to Previous Month

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Wisconsin egg production during April was 181 million eggs.
According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, that was down five percent from both year and last month, according to the latest USDA Chickens and Eggs report.
The average number of all layers on hand during April was 7.62 million, down one percent from last month, but one percent higher than last April. Eggs per 100 layers were 2,381, which was four percent lower than in March and six percent less than last year.
Nationally, egg production totaled 9.19 billion, up one percent from last year. Production included 7.93 billion table eggs, and 1.27 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.19 billion were broiler-type and 75.8 million were egg-type.
The average number of layers during April totaled 389 million, which was down slightly from 2020. Egg production per 100 layers was 2,360 eggs, up two percent since April 2020.
