Marshfield a Step Closer to New Community Center

(WDLB) -Marshfield is a step closer to a new community center in the former public library, but the financing of the renovation project still needs to be finalized.The city's Board of Public Works gave its approval to a list of bids for the project, but also told the city's Finance and Budget Committee to hammer out how to cover a 600-thousand dollar gap in funding for the work. Public Works Director Dan Knoeck told the board the community center price tag is one-point-eight million dollars. And with one-point-two million left over from the construction of the new Everett Roehl Public Library, that leaves 600-thousand dollars which the city will have to come up with.
The bid package recommendation goes to the Common Council for its meeting next Tuesday. The list of low bidders includes four Marshfield firms, including the Boson Company--which is serving as the general contractor. Other local contractors include Quality Roofing, Reigel Plumbing and McMillan Electric. All of the other low bidders are Wisconsin companies--including R-and-R Flooring of Spencer, M-V Masonry from Marathon, Esser Glass and Badger Heating-and-Air from Stevens Point and Pine Valley Paint of Neillsville.
