National FFA Organization Awards Scholarships

The National FFA Organization is awarding more than $2.7 million in college scholarships to nearly 1,900 students this spring.According to Wisconsinagconnection.com the agriculture education group says 82 Wisconsin FFA members were among the recipients of the scholarship program, which is available to students pursuing two-year or four-year degrees or vocational programs.
State winners of scholarships totaling $5,000 from our area include Robert Krause, Augusta. Katelyn Zimmerman of Spencer was the recipient of a $2,500 scholarship award.
Meanwhile, Wisconsin also had 12 students who earned $2,000 scholarships; 17 won $1,500 for college and 46 will get a check for $1,000.
This year marks the 33rd year for the scholarship program, which began in 1984 with just 16 scholarships offered. Since then, more than $47 million has been awarded in scholarship funds through the National FFA Organization.
