Portage County Man Arrested for Child Enticement in Thorp Sentenced

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017 -- 11:12 AM

-A Portage County man arrested in Thorp for child enticement and use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime was sentenced in Clark County Court on Monday.

Back in June of 2014, Randy Scott came to the City of Thorp expecting to meet an underage girl, but he was met by officers instead. Scott had exchanged messages with what he believed was an underage girl. In the conversation, he had indicated that he wanted to have sex with the girl, get her pregnant and then take her back to his home where they would live together. Scott initially denied saying that in the conversation, but later admitted to it.

In the end, Scott pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of child enticement-sexual contact. Eight counts of possession of child pornography and one count of use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime were dismissed and read in. Scott was sentenced to 5 years in prison, plus an imposed and stayed prison sentence of 10 years should he fail any conditions of his probation. He was also sentenced to a total of 10 years extended supervision and 13 years’ probation. He must also comply with sex offender registry and owes the courts over $1,500.
