-The Neillsville City Council heard some concerns in regards to the location of Memorial Medical Center’s new hospital at their meeting on Tuesday.Don Boon, of the Boon Subdivision, appeared before the council to clarify some questions and concerns he’s fielded about why Memorial Medical Center is choosing to not build their new facility in the Boon Subdivision and instead choosing to build on River Avenue. He feels that building in that location will cause a tremendous burden on the tax payers of the City of Neillsville and the city itself. One item Don clarified was the amount of room to build within the subdivision. He stated that there’s currently almost 51 acres of land to build on for the hospital. He also stated that subdivision has all the hookups necessary for electricity, sewer, water, etc.
He also questioned why they chose not to build in a TIF District in the city and who’s going to pay for the roads to meet DOT standards going into the hospital, who’s going to keep the roads plowed and other items. One of the big items he also discussed was the cost of building within the subdivision. He also felt that he received a lack of communication from MMC’s CEO and Board of Directors. To hear the counter argument to these concerns, you can head to our website and click on the New Facility Icon on the top right side of our homepage. If you have any questions or concerns you can contact MMC’s CEO Ryan Neville or you may contact me here at the station and I will relay the question/concern to MMC.
