Neillsville City Council Discusses Merchant Hotel Property
Thursday, April 27th, 2017 -- 9:07 AM
-The Neillsville City Council had a lengthy discussion about the Merchant Hotel Property at their meeting on Tuesday. This property has proved to be a thorn in the city’s side for some time now. They’ve had multiple issues reported including complaints on cats and cat odors, cockroaches, inappropriate garbage deposits, alcohol inspections and other problems. In the past, when these issues were brought up with the building owner, minimal work would be done to slide by the next inspection, but they’d end up back at square one and repeat the cycle.
The situation got more hazardous when the fire department began inspections and noted multiple fire hazards that put the building, at the buildings around it, at risk. It was decided during the meeting, that after giving the owner multiple chances, they are going to begin citing him and start making changes to bring the building under control.
