Tuesday, April 18th, 2017 -- 11:32 AM
-Eligible blood donors of all blood types are encouraged to give blood through the American Red Cross this spring to help ensure a sufficient supply for hospital patients.Donated blood is perishable and must constantly be replenished to keep up with hospital patient need. Red blood cells are the blood component most frequently transfused by hospitals and must be used within 42 days of donation. While donors of all blood types are encouraged to give blood, type O, A negative and B negative are especially needed.
There are several Red Cross Blood Drives happening including one today at the Thorp Fire and Ambulance District Station from 11am-5pm, another happening tomorrow at OEM Fabricators in Neillsville from 12pm-5pm, another happening Thursday, April 27th at the Black River Falls High School from 9am-2pm and another happening on Monday, May 1st, at the Eagles Club in Marshfield from 11am-5pm.
