Presentation at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

-The Owen-Withee School Board began their meeting on Monday with a presentation.Julie Kodl presented on the progress the Youth Apprenticeship program has made in its first year at Owen-Withee. Ten students participated this year with one graduating and 9 continuing next year. Nine other students have indicated interest in being a part of the program in 2017-18. Ms Kodl also presented to the board a list of criteria that the school would like to see implemented to provide some requirements and some accountability for students involved.
The board also discussed election results. Charlie Milliren and Dean Schmelzer were re-elected to three year terms in the election held on April 4th. Both candidates ran unopposed for their seat. The board also reviewed the consortium/coop proposal for health insurance. With a 21% increase in premiums proposed by WEA for 2017-18, the decision to be involved in the coop was made easier for the board. On a voice vote the board approved continued involvement with the health insurance consortium with involvement with the coop once it is formally created.
