(WDLB) -Marshfield school officials are extending a contract with the Stevens Point firm that's planning and designing a major upgrade and expansion of the district's athletic facilities. The Marshfield Board of Education voted last night in favor of a short-term contract with the Rettler Corporation to begin the design phase of more than 10-million dollars worth of improvements. Board member Amber Kiggens-Leifheit said the contract totals nearly 13-thousand dollars. The contract will cover such things as preparing preliminary facility design drawings, meeting with the city of Marshfield staff to determine permitting criteria, storm water management, addressing traffic and other infrastructure concerns, and preparing an initial environmental assessment.
Also last night, the board voted to approve a summer school budget in the amount of just over 409-thousand dollars--a one-and-a-half percent increase over last year's budget. But Superintendent Dee Wells said there are more things being added to the summer school program this year--some of which are being paid for by outside grants. The summer school course catalogue can be found on the school district's website at marshfieldschools.org. Classes begin June 12th and run through July 21st, from 8 a.m. to noon each day.
