Area 8th Graders Get a Taste of Budgeting

(WDLB) -Mom and Dad don't have it so easy, when it comes to planning that monthly family budget.That's what area 8th graders found yesterday, when they took part in the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry's annual "Reality Store" at the Marshfield Middle School. Marshfield Middle School Business Teacher Dan Akin said yesterday's was the 13th annual "Reality Store"--and it's been a huge success. Akin says the Reality Store ties in with his Career Quest class at the Middle School, and 8th grade is a good age for kids to be learning the lessons taught through the program.
Students from Marshfield, Stratford, Greenwood and Pittsville took part in yesterday's "Reality Store". The Marshfield Chamber had offered up more than 60 possible careers the students could end up with. There were pediatricians, attorneys, teachers, automotive technicians and much more. Over five-thousand students have gone through the program. The first ones to go through are now 27 years old.
