Black River Memorial Hospital Looking for Volunteers to Make Comfort Shawls for Veterans
Friday, May 21st, 2021 -- 8:00 AM
Black River Memorial Hospital is seeking volunteers who knit or crochet to help make comfort shawls for veterans and other patients in the Jackson County area who are entering the Hospice or Homecare programs.
“We love being able to provide these shawls, and our patients really appreciate them,” said Rose Olson, BRMH Homecare-Hospice home health aide, who is coordinating the collection of the shawls.
A small supply of yarn is available at B-Home Services and Supplies, and patterns can be found on the BRMH website, with permission from shawlministry.com to print for private use. “A slightly bulky yarn in the preferred pattern is very soft and comfortable,” Olson said.
Completed shawls can be dropped off at B-Home Services and Supplies, 311 County Highway A, Black River Falls. Please attach a note with the name and address of the person who made the shawl, along with the number of hours it took.
For more information call 715-284-3662. Shawl patterns and other volunteer opportunities can be found at www.brmh.net/about-us/volunteers.
