-The Owen-Withee School Board heard an update on health insurance at their meeting last week.District Administrator Bob Houts reported to the board that the finishing touches are being put on the health insurance bids for the newly formed consortium. Two bids have been received so far and another was due on Friday. The bids that have been received look favorable, and will allow staff options on which kind of coverage they want to select. M3, the insurance broker who is putting the consortium together, will be at the March board meeting to explain the different bids and go over the insurance consortium process.
The board also reviewed four additional projects under that Act 32 Energy Efficiency projects made possible by savings seen in the projects already approved. The four projects are, moving an electrical transmission line off of the roof of the high school, replacing all of the exterior lighting around the building and the parking lots, replacing a boiler in the high school and replacing doors in the gym lobby and around the building. The board approved the first three projects and tabled the fourth until more information and better pricing could be obtained.
