Public Works Report at Neillsville City Council Meeting

Friday, February 17th, 2017 -- 8:03 AM

-The Neillsville City Council heard the Public Works report at their meeting on Tuesday.

The usual amount of work was done in the city including parks and cemetery maintenance, equipment maintenance, trimming and pruning trees, snow and ice removal including the widening of streets, maintaining lighting, filling pot holes, locating and opening storm drains, and more. Dave Flynn, Neillsville’s Public Works Director, also reminded residents to make sure they clean their sidewalks within 24 hours after a storm.

He also mentioned that residences need to bring in their trash cans/bins and recycle bins within 24 hours after pick up because they tend to get blown around during times of high winds. If they end up in the street, Dave picks them up and takes them to the shop before he tosses them in the garbage if they’re not claimed. He also mentioned that the bar screen is back on line. Finally, he stated that the city is treating far more water that’s leaking into the system then sewage at the sewer plant. Dave said they’re looking into funding options to replace many sewer lines in the city to help with that otherwise the plant won’t las as long as they’d like.
