-The Neillsville City Council heard an update on the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program at their meeting on Tuesday. This grant involves state and federal assistance to three homes in Neillsville near the creek that were damaged last fall due to flooding that occurred after severe, heavy rains. This grant that the Public Works Director is applying for will cover the 12.5% share of the city’s cost. 12.5% comes from the state and the rest comes from the federal government. The Chippewa Housing Authority is administering the grant and once the city takes control of the properties, they need to be turned into greenspace per federal regulations.
During the communications portion of the meeting, the council heard an update on the fire department’s new rescue van, Memorial Medical Center’s financials and the Neillsville Taxi Service. They also approved several licenses.
