New Dentist at Neillsville Dental Center

-A dentist with a desire to provide oral health care to people in underserved areas has joined Neillsville Dental Center.Dr. Aaron Mertz shares Marshfield’s Clinic’s patient care mission. This “person-to-person” dentistry is what Mertz practiced during his outreach work as a dental student at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, which emphasized serving high-need areas.
Mertz helped establish the school’s student chapter of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry, organizing volunteer projects and lecturers. His externships in rural Guatemala showed the pressing need for basic dental care. Mertz said working with children at a young age is important. When introduced to the dental clinic at an early age, they learn it’s not a scary experience. He credits his mother, a registered nurse, and his father, a plumber, with leading him to his career path.
