(WDLB) -Marshfield school officials are moving ahead with seeking funding options for more than 10-million dollars worth of improvements to the district's athletic facilities--including a new football stadium. With one member absent, the Board of Education voted 6-to-nothing last night in favor of looking for ways to cover 10-point-five million dollars, which would pay to add a soccer and practice football field on the vacant lot adjacent to the Tiny Tiger Center across from the high school, along with a J-V baseball field and a 100-space parking lot. That amount would also cover a new football and outdoor track stadium just north and east of Marshfield High School, and a several improvements at the middle school--including a new six-lane track and soccer field.
And the board voted 5-to-1 in favor of having the district commit to covering up to three-and-a-half million dollars of that amount. The Board decided last month to make the improvements in various phases, and the three phases covered by the 10-point-five million dollars were listed as top priorities. Proposed improvements that were given lesser priority include two softball diamonds and a soccer field at the Madison Elementary property across Becker from Tiny Tiger and the high school, plus some locker room upgrades within the high school.
