Owen City Council Discusses Legal Firm

-The Owen City Council discussed their legal firm at their meeting last week.Two aldermen made phone calls to two different law offices and a few of their current municipal customers. Both reported that the firms have interest in being the City’s attorney and have many years of municipal law experience. The recommendation made was Wolfgram, Gamoke & Hutchinson and Pietz which the council approved as their new city attorney. The council also approved Resolution #2017-1 Authorizing issuance of $685,500 G.O. Promissory Note & Issuance & Sale of a $685,500 taxable note anticipation note in anticipation thereof for the public purposes, including financing community development projects in the City’s TIF #4 specifically, providing development incentive to Heartland Cooperative Services pursuant to an agreement dated October 25, 2016.
Finally, the council heard the CDC’s report. Tim Swiggum reported the grant application for the railroad project at Heartland is almost completed. There is an interested party in lot at the East Commercial Park but no offer has been received yet.
