Granton Village Board Discusses Drug Problem

Tuesday, January 17th, 2017 -- 11:32 AM

-The Granton Village Board discussed drug problems Clark County is experiencing.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, Patrol Captain Charlie Ramberg advised that they are doing the best they can to stay on top of the drug problem in Clark County with the staffing they have. The county had budgeted for another drug control officer but with the budget cuts, it didn’t happen. When asked what the village can do to stop the drug trafficking in town, Ramberg suggested the board members attend the county board meeting with their concerns. Community involvement, trash picks, neighborhood watches, night patrols and placing cameras in troubled areas were all discussed as options as well.

The board also heard the water report. The heater in the chemical room in well 4 and the tower heater was replaced. Several meters were pulled and tested and two new meters installed. A pollutant water test has to be completed on both wells with approximately 34 different samples. The deadline for completion is the end of March with an estimated cost of $2000.
