Granton Village Board Hears Update on Police Computer

Monday, January 16th, 2017 -- 9:14 AM

-The Granton Village Board heard about several projects that are on hold until spring to start their meeting last week.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the board heard that the side walk restoration project, the park project, which the village has $1,550 earmarked for after a $1,000 donation came in, the flagpole in the cemetery and the ATV route are all on hold for the time being. The board also heard an update on the police computer. The State of Wisconsin announced this past summer that starting January 1st of this year, they would no longer be accepting hand written tickets or citations. There is a computer system with docking station available for the squad car. The price for the computer system is 5336.00 and includes the docking station, power supply, antenna, printer and cables, mounting hardware, and a printer mount.

Patrol Captain Charlie Ramberg from Neillsville brought one of their law enforcement lap tops to the meeting to show the board and answer any questions. He advised the lap top is fully functional in the heat, the cold, is waterproof, lights up at night and comes with a docking station to charge the battery. The board discussed the state’s decision and agreed the village didn’t really have any option. The board approved to purchase the police computer for $5336.00 plus the install package estimated at $600.00.
