Spring Election Discussed at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting
Monday, January 16th, 2017 -- 8:03 AM
-The Owen-Withee School Board verified their school board candidates for the spring election at their meeting on Monday of last week.Charlie Milliren and Dean Schmelzer, incumbents whose terms on the board are up for election this spring, have filed papers to run for re-election. They are the only two running for the two spots so there is no need for a primary in February. They will appear on the ballot for the general election in April.
District Administrator Bob Houts presented the 2015-16 audit to the board and discussed the results. Their auditors found no issues with the financials aspects of the district. They did express concerns that segregation of duties to avoid potential fraud is an area that may need some work. This is very common in small school district due to the small staffs in business offices. The district continues to work with their auditors to implement procedures that will reduce the chance of fraud. The board approved the audit on a unanimous voice vote.
