Presentation Starts Owen-Withee School Board Meeting
Friday, January 13th, 2017 -- 8:03 AM
-The Owen-Withee School Board began their meeting on Monday with a presentation.Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Meyer talked about the Vocabulary Super Bowl that was developed from analysis from PLC groups that identified vocabulary as a weakness of their students. Teachers identify a number of vocabulary words that are essential to their curricular area and then, using a variety of technological methods, students in home rooms practice and learn the words. Then, in late February or early March, the Super Bowl of Vocabulary is held with a junior high and a high school home room crowned the champs.
District Administrator Bob Houts reviewed the 2017-18 calendar that was presented at the December meeting and presented changes that were requested by the staff. He also reintroduced the idea of having summer school the week before school which the board was interested in. In order to give the staff a chance to discuss the issue and to have some input, the board voted to table the 2017-18 calendar until the February meeting.
