State Housing Market Price and Sales Increase

Tuesday, January 10th, 2017 -- 8:01 AM

(CBS) -Recently released numbers show the state's housing-market is chugging along, with both prices and sales significantly up this year.

For buyers, experts say interest rates remain low making it a good time to buy. This is despite the rise in rates. "Even though we are starting to see interest rates go up, the fed raised rates in December and are expected to raise them two, maybe three times in 2017. Historically interest rates for borrowing for homes are still very low," said Rose Oswald-Poels with Wisconsin Bankers Association.

The Wisconsin Bankers Association says it's also a good time to sell, especially with those prices up. Homebuilders and home improvement companies are still weary after the "great recession" in 2008.
