December Class III Milk Price Released

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -The USDA announced that the December Class III milk price was released at $17.40 per hundredweight.That's up 64-cents from November's price and $2.96 above December 2015. It was also the highest base price since late-2014. For the entire year of 2016, the Class III price has averaged $14.87. Class IV component price was $1.21 more than last month's price at $14.97, but was 55-cents less than December of last year.
Meanwhile, the USDA reported that Wisconsin farmers received an average price of $18.70 per hundredweight for their milk in November--$1.70 higher than last month's price and 50-cents more than the same time last year. The U.S. milk price for November was $17.60 per cwt, $1.10 lower than Wisconsin's price, but $1.00 higher than the previous month.
