Changes to Marshfield Common Council

Thursday, December 29th, 2016 -- 8:03 AM

(WDLB) -There will be at least one new member of the Marshfield Common Council next spring.

Incumbent Alanna Feddick has filed a statement of non-candidacy, indicating she will not seek reelection in April. Meanwhile, Nick Poeschel (PAY-shul), who is retiring today from the Marshfield Police Department, is running for the second-district seat that Feddick is vacating. Poeschel says there wasn't any particular issue that got him into the election. Poeschel is a graduate of Eau Claire Memorial High School, and is retiring as a police sargeant and patrol supervisor.

Meanwhile, District four alderman and current Council President Gordy Earll has filed his candidacy papers with the necessary signatures to seek another term. Also running for that seat is Ken Bargender. Earll was first elected to the Council in 2009, and is seeking his fifth two-year term. Two other aldermen--Rebecca Spiros in district eight and Pete Hendler in district 10--are running unopposed. District six alderman Tom Witzel--who was appointed to the Common Council back in August--is running for his first full term. Witzel was chosen by the Council to fill the unexpired term of former Alderman Rich Reinart.
