Two Arrested North of Spencer After High Speed Chase

Wednesday, December 28th, 2016 -- 10:22 AM

-The Clark County Sheriff’s Office with the Loyal Police Department has arrested 45-year-old Eric M. Sutton and 28-year-old Brittany A. Sather after their vehicle crashed into another vehicle on STH 13 north of Spencer.

On Christmas Eve, at about 9:54pm, the Loyal Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding. The operator, Eric M. Sutton, refused to stop and increased speed in an attempt to get away. The Loyal Police Department followed the vehicle on several township roads until it eventually stopped in the City of Spencer. When a Clark County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived to assist the Loyal Officer, the vehicle drove away. Eric drove through Spencer and turned north on STH 13 and increased his speed to over 100 mph. While Eric was driving north, he crashed into another vehicle going north near Century Road. The car that was struck went into the west ditch while Eric’s vehicle slowly came to rest and stopped near a driveway on the east side of the road. The operator in the vehicle they hit was unharmed.

Eric got out of the car when it stopped, raised his hands and appeared to give up. Eric was placed into custody by the officers following them. The passenger of the vehicle, Brittany A. Sather, ran as soon as the car stopped to a nearby residence and hide under some brush. Brittany was found by officers when they followed her footprints in the snow. After Eric and Brittany were arrested, officers noticed a loaded handgun in the vehicle. Eric had several warrants for his arrest and was arrested for 7th Offense OWI, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of THC, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Eluding an Officer. Brittany was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. Both Eric and Brittany are currently in the Clark County Jail awaiting their initial appearance in court.
