Local FFA Students Receive SAE Grants

Wednesday, December 28th, 2016 -- 9:18 AM

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -The Wisconsin FFA Foundation announced that nearly $29,000 has been awarded to 37 Wisconsin FFA members in Supervised Agricultural Experience program grants this month.

SAE programs apply the concepts learned in the agricultural education classroom and the skills developed through FFA membership to individual experiential learning projects. Programs are classified as placement or entrepreneurship and span a broad range of agricultural careers and businesses. The grants were awarded in five different SAE categories, including aquaculture, dairy, livestock, organic agriculture and start-up. Successful candidates were chosen based on the level and scope of their SAE in accordance with their age, their future goals and plans for the program and financial need.

A Dairy SAE grant recipient included Devon Weiland of Colby. In the livestock category a grant was awarded to Adam Zee of Marshfield. Start Up SAE grants included Rhiannon Reimer of Granton and Michael Schmitt of Thorp. Many Wisconsin FFA members were also chosen to earn SAE Grants from the National FFA including Ashley Neisius of Thorp.
