Columbus High School Donates to Home Delivered Meals Program

Sunday, December 25th, 2016 -- 9:39 AM

(WDLB) -A group of students from Columbus Catholic High School in Marshfield have prepared emergency food kits for some homebound residents in the city--using food items purchased with money they raised.

Members of the school's Mission Club spent part of their Thursday afternoon at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, packing small boxes of non-perishable food items. Lori Zimmermann, the hospital's Director of Food and Nutrition Services, says the boxes will go to Marshfield residents who are part of the Home Delivered Meals program funded by the United Way.

The Home Delivered Meals program runs seven days a week, and sends out anywhere from 100 to 150 meals on weekdays, and lesser amounts on the weekends, because there aren't as many volunteer drivers on those days. If you think you might be interested in becoming a volunteer meal delivery driver, contact program coordinator Kris Hughes at 715-387-9585 between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. weekdays.
