Administrators' Reports at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting on Monday of last week.Jr/Sr. High Dean of Students Julie Van Ark reported on Operation Fruit Basket wich is a joint effort between the FBLA, NHS, FFA, OW Club, Jr and Sr High Student Councils and the 1st and 3rd graders to create and deliver fruit, cookies, candy and other Christmas gifts for 100 elderly or needy people in the O-W community. On 12/8 and 12/9, Mrs. Boie’s PE classes performed the first ever Flash Mob at the boys and girls basketball games. The performance was a final grade for PE students, while others, including staff members joined in for the fun. The Jr/Sr high concert was held on Monday, December 19th in the high school gym and performances of A Christmas Carol, by the 7th grade English students, will held on now through December 23rd.
District Administrator Bob Houts reported that over the coming weeks the Policy Committee will need to do some work as it relates to an unpaid lunch balance policy and policies on parental involvement and the transportation of foster care kids who reside in other districts. The district was also notified that three member of the district are nominees for the Kohl Awards, Josiah Goerlitz (Excellence Scholarship) and Travis Engel and Denise Swartz (Fellowships) have been selected by a committee at CESA 10 to move on to the state round for final evaluation.
