Wisconsinites Have Opportunity to Provide Input on Chronic Wasting Disease Response Plan

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Wisconsinites will soon have an opportunity to provide input regarding the Chronic Wasting Disease Response Plan recommendations.Over the past several months, the Department of Natural Resources, Department of Agriculture, and Wisconsin Conservation Congress have sponsored a stakeholder-based review committee to discuss and review the DNR's 15-year CWD Response Plan. The plan covers action items like CWD surveillance and monitoring, hunting season tools, captive deer regulations, biosecurity and safety, research, and public involvement.
Review committee recommendations will be released for online public comment from December 20 through January 3. To view the recommendations and provide feedback online, visit the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources' website at: www.dnr.wi.gov. Following the comment period, feedback will be shared with each County Deer Advisory Council for review and discussion during January CDAC meetings. The final recommendation package will be sent to the Natural Resources Board for approval in March 2017.
