Central Wisconsin Cheesemaker Honored with Prestigious Award

Friday, December 16th, 2016 -- 10:07 AM

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -A central Wisconsin cheesemaker is being honored with one of the most prestigious awards given within the state's dairy processing industry.

Ken Heiman, who co-owns Nasonville Dairy of Marshfield, will be presented with the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association's Life Member Award during the group's annual convention in April. The award recognizes people who have played a significant role in the success of the association through leadership, support and service to this institution and activities. Heiman has been a licensed cheesemaker for the past 48 years and a Master Cheesemaker for the past ten. Under his leadership, the company now averages more than $140 million in annual sales.

Ken is known for his passion for the dairy industry, and gives back through his active membership in the WCMA and in his work with the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board. He and his family will also serve as co-hosts of the 2018 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days in Wood County. The WCMA has offered the Life Member Award since 1918, in which Heiman will be the 85th recipient. Meanwhile, the dairy group will also bestow its WCMA Cheese Industry Champion Award to Dallas Wuethrich from Grassland Dairy in Greenwood.
