Training for Nutrient Management Plan from County UW-Extension Offices

-As of January of 2008, all Wisconsin agriculture producers applying nutrients to cropland are required to implement a nutrient management plan in accordance with ATCP 50 of the Wisconsin Administrative code.

Cropland owners who receive farmland preservation payments, have engineered manure storage or have had an ordnance violation must provide a NMP for their cropland. A NMP can be developed by a certified crop advisor (CCA) or by a qualified farmer after completing a DATCP approved training course. The training is 6 hours for a refresher course or 12 hours if qualified for the first time. The classes are held concurrently beginning on Friday January 6 - 20, from 10:00 ??" 3:00 at the Medford Northcentral Technical College (NTC) campus. The Spencer NTC campus classes will be held beginning Thursday January 19 - February 2 from 10:00 ??" 3:00. Spencer will also hold night classes beginning Thursday January 19 ??" February 23, 7:00 ??" 9:00 pm. The Wausau NTC campus classes will be begin Wednesday January 18 ??" February 1, 10:00 ??" 3:00. Wood County will hold classes beginning on Thursday March 9 ??" 23, 10:00 ??" 3:00 at the Wood County courthouse.

Cost is $260.00 for the full course or $130.00 for the refresher. Upon completion of the course and completing a 590 checklist participants will be reimbursed the cost of the course.
